June 5, 4m opening....

A nice Es afternoon...

43 QSO on 4m band and first time with my good friend PA2CHR (Chris)

All day 6m band sounds like 20m.  Many new stations worked (mainly Italians)

OK1TEH has the audio recording of the day on 4m  here

Sporadic E short skip...

Short skip both on 50 MHz  and  70 MHz   but also and 

2 x Es with ODX on 6m the CU3AC (4813 Km)

On 4m once again I get marginal the SV2DCD, my good friend Leo.

Best ever Es season so far...

Incredible openings all May on 6m and 4m....Hope tommorrow to get 2m also. All predictions shows a "big bang" on 2m....

518 QSOs for a about 8 hours  Es opening.  

I lost much time searching and CQing on 4m but results was beatiful.

and tests on 4m. I manage to work him QRPP with 5 watts 

and a 435 MHz rubber duck antenna from his side....!!!!

Italian afternoon on 6m...

262 Italian stations today on 6m most of them new calls.

I really enjoy the big signals (90%) and the brodcast style modulations.

Easter Holidays...

Great time for relaxing and many hours on radios.  

Propagation makes many surprises specially on 6 and 4m.

More than 2.000 QSOs most of them on HF.

TV Channel 11 (VHF) on KM36vc...

3 days now the Tropo on VHF add one more TV channel at XYL's collection at second QTH. Unfortunately no any activity from Egypt on 2m band....

Nothing like Es.....

Es is back again and this time both 6m &  4m....!!!

The first Es season 6m opening....

Yes, Sporadic E season startsd today for 2013 on 6m band. A hour or bit less opening on 6m band was enough to "smell on air" the summer comes.  

15 QSOs with DL, S5, OK, 9A and IK stations. Strong and deep QSB and 4-5 calls lost under the noise floor.   

Wishes for a nice Es season to all.....!!!

License renew...

Today I renew my Ham Radio License.  The new one is simplest than the old one on a yellow paper with only the necessary data. The older  license was an A class one. 

That means from 1992 till 2003 I give 3 times exams to upgrade from C class to B class and finally on A class, something wasn't so easy (believe me).

Now, the rules are easy but the people prefer the Internet for their communications. 


 

Im still a proud fan of the FIRST ever Social network:

Remote SDR Server....

My remote SDR server is on-line for about 15 days now thanks to the very nice software from Simon G4ELI / HB9DRV. Im using the RTL-SDR dongle with cost only 10 USD....!!!

 

You can try my Remote SDR server dowloading first the software from here:

On the right side of page choose the latest Preview and after downloading just make the installation. After the program installation duble click on blue icon to start it. At the higher left corner choose connect and and give my Server's data:    sv5byr.no-ip.org  port  7999  and username and password  guest

Just highlight the dongle and press START.

You should see something like this:

Echolink node on Raspi....

Finally the Echolink node is setup on one of my Raspberries.

The software is the SVXLink and works like a charm.. You can see and test my node at Echolink's catalogs (see Europe, Greece).

For the moment all necessary accesories are on place except radio. 

I need some time for further tests and tuning... Then will be active.

So, stay tuned...

SV5BYR-7 DX Cluster on line....!!!!

  
After few days of experimental use, from last night it's up and running without any problems. The software it's the "DX Spider" and run on a Raspberry Pi (a credit card sized) Computer.

Merry Christmas...!!!

Geminids...

Last night I make few QSOs on 2m (144.363) Meteor Scatter during the Geminids shower. 

The big surprise for me was the 2 Greek stations that I manage to work (SV6KRV and SV6KRW).

Conditions on band it's ideal the last 3 days with no QRN at all. Even the -audible only- weak signals was decoded. 

My setup is ICOM IC-7000 +13B2 Cushcraft 13 elements Yagi + MGF1302 ultra low noise preamplifier.

SV5KKR Experimental Remote Base...

As my FT-817 staying without any activity during winter time I decide to put it work on a remote base project.

 After my succesfull efforts last decade on remote stations (See on http://www.5-9report.gr/59report/5-9%20REPORT%20vol88.pdf  and  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhsbNUBG938  and also  http://sv5byr.blogspot.gr/2011/10/remote-rig-second-installation.html ) the time for a public receiver comes.

I choose Remote Hams and make a request on my son's call after downloading  the neccessery Server software. All goes well and the system works just fine from the very first moment.  

Now the only thing you need is to download the Client Software from Remotehams and to play with receiver.....!!! (the register mail comes very fast)
