Back on air...

Back on air after long time...!!! 

Some personal issues keep me out of air almost 2 months. Now Im back again in daily basis on CW, RTTY and SSB sometimes.

At weekends also I 'll be active from my 2nd QTH at south Rhodes and KM36vc Locator.

160m this morning...

Great opening on 160 this morning...!!!

My antenna (a λ/4 dipole at 15m) it's still under test for more than 2 months but this morning propagation helps a lot. With noise at S3 was easy to hear USA's big guns. QSB was fair but long and I really enjoy it. 

All this week I will try to be QRV on daily basis on Top Band.

Field Day 2013...

 After one week my good friend Bernie (DJ5MN) visit us again this morning. He is carying with him his new "toy" the Elecraft KX-3. 

An incredible small size-big capabilities radio. 

A small diamond. 

He let me to play with it a half hour and I see a nice receveiver and a sophisticated design. 

Congrats to Elecraft's engineers..!!!

Great time for relaxing and many hours on radios.  

Propagation makes many surprises specially on 6 and 4m.

More than 2.000 QSOs most of them on HF.

TV Channel 11 (VHF) on KM36vc...

3 days now the Tropo on VHF add one more TV channel at XYL's collection at second QTH. Unfortunately no any activity from Egypt on 2m band....

License renew...

Today I renew my Ham Radio License.  The new one is simplest than the old one on a yellow paper with only the necessary data. The older  license was an A class one. 

That means from 1992 till 2003 I give 3 times exams to upgrade from C class to B class and finally on A class, something wasn't so easy (believe me).

Now, the rules are easy but the people prefer the Internet for their communications.

A nice opening both 6 and 4m...

My holidays at KM36vc (South Rhodes) are continued. This morning checking my favor band (over coffee), I heard I0JX/b with 559. Starting my CQ on 50.100 many stations (mainly Italians) answered to my CQ...

Short skip on 6m with SV2 land give me the oportunity to work SV2CXW George and my good friend Leo SV2DCD. Leo comes with a 59 later on my FT-847's answered my CQ on 4m...!!!!

July 1st Sporadic E opening on 2m...

Incredible opening on 2m. On 1st part I miss lot of fun (a good friend come to see me) But at the afternoon was coool... I spend lot of time (about 2 hours) at 4m and the rest time  at 6m band.

Season's 1st 2m SporadicE opening...!!!

Incredible opening on 2m today.

June 9 Sporadic E  maps

Countries worked:  HA, OK, OM, OE, DL, SP and with tropo 5B, 4X and SV9.

Total durarion:  3 hours  (10:00 to 13:00 UTC)

Number of QSOs:  187.

Erlier the opening on 4m was nice. I manage to work 26 stations
and as always OK1TEH record my transmission. (TNX Matej)

2m tropo with Crete....

QSO with my good friends Giannis and Giorgos from SV9 land (Crete) Before this 2 QSOs I manage to work again 9H1GB from Malta and Giannis SV9AHZ.
Pure strong tropo across Mediterranean sea.

Total Antenna test...

Spending my last 5 days at my alternative QTH with very bad weather I have the chance to make an big continue antenna test for my 9 Band Windom that I modify for 160-10m operation around April this year. With lot of time for operation (due to rain and strong winds) I decide to make a detailed long test to antenna to check for efficiency at all bands. I have to say that the antenna is free of RFI because Im use 10 toroidal rings near feed point.  I make 1.476 QSOs from 160 to 10m bands mostly on CW and RTTY. Few QSOs are made at SSB on 12m band. The power was 100w on CW, SSB and 50w on RTTY. Radio used TS-2000.

The antenna efficiency behavior is the follow:

160m: Poor

  80m: Good

  40m: Very Good

  30m: Poor (QRM on Wi-FI !!!)

  20m: Very Good

  17m: Very Good

  15m: Good

  12m: Very good

  10m: Very good

Unfortunately I'm about to build a new antenna for 160m because the poor results of the modified windom. Of course the antenna height is not the optimal this time (8m AGL), but I was expecting more than 22 QSOs in 2 hours of trying...!!!
