M/V RONA not under control near Rhodes island....

Yesterday I received a PAN PAN PAN call from RONA motor cargo ship on Marine CH 16 the same time as Coastguard and port authoroties.
It was about 30miles southeast of my QTH....
Listening the comunication exchanges I notice that the Port Authority of Rhodes not hear the ship and immidiedly I call them on phone to inform that I still listening the signal loud and clear and that I can help.

The officer tell me to be stand by and two times I make relay between ship and Port Authority.

Also SAR command are informed by telephone by me that Im QRV if they need it on VHF or even on HF.

Thanks god the captain of cargo ship says that they try to fix engine problem and no any help from other ship or Coastguard is neccessery. My associated AIS system here on island is actived and till today I have on my screen the trace of ship. Thanks to SV5KKU (Lakis) for backup AIS system activation from Lindos even without Internet due to disaster of the last days. His providing the AIS data throu his iPhone4 untill this morning....

Also SV5FRC (Kostas) was QRV on VHF and HF for any assistance as member of Hellenic Rescue Team where Im in charge.

NEW preamplifiers BOX setup...

 My new premplifier box is under construction after aluminum die-cast box arriving. (TNX SV5KKU).

Inside are the two preampilfiers and two coaxial relays CX-600N by TOHTSU.

The VHF preamplifier is homemade by PA2CHR and gives 18db  with 0,35 Noise Figure.

The black one from ARR is the UHF  with 15 db and 0,6 NF   (modified).

SV5 land Beacons....

Here is a photo with the tower where is errected the antennas of SV5 beacons.

All antennas except CB short Antenna are homemade according DL6WU antenna design software.

The "ROHN" tower is 9m tall and the antenna sight is about 800m ASL.

All antennas are pointing to 330 deg.

My FD-4 Fritzel windom antanna

Believe it or not this is my HF antenna on my 2nd QTH. Just 3 m above ground and erected on pinetrees...

DIGITAL Afternoon....

Over 100 USA stations this afternoon (1 hour before Greyline) on 15m RTTY and 20m RTTY and PSK31...
Again "pipeline" propagation with SP and Scandinavia...
Mostly I, DL,F,and few exotic stations hi hi
The F2 still ionized weak and no "big deals" after dark...

Total QSOs so far  237...

Tnx all stations for their patiend and support adding a spot to DXCluster...

How SV5BYR antennas look like ???

Here are my Antenas...   (from top to bottom)

* At the top an Diamond X-300 VHF-UHF vertical for FM - local use.

* A 3 elemet yagi for 4m. (homemade)

* A 13 element yagi for 2m. (Cushcraft 13B2)

* A 5 element yagi for 6m. (5JXX6)

* A 3 element yagi for 10-15-20m. (Cushcraft A3S)

* A half sloper with a ICOM AH-4 coupler on tower top for 80-6m use.

* Various VHF-UHF yagi and verticals for special uses (AIS, beacons, etc)

SDR project ....

After almost a year I decide to finish my SDR radio project...
It's based on Softrock RX/TX 6.2 kit builded for 40 and 80m bands.
I housed this kit into a plastic box but I will move it into a aluminum die-cast box later...
RX is working just fine and now Im working on transmission section.

Holidays (final) update...

 

Holidays at KM36vc is finished....

Final total of QSOs are 2011....!!!
Hope to meet you again all.  Happy new Year for all people and Ham friends. Now my activity from KM36VC will regular at weekends.  Big effort from me and village people is taked to get Wi-Fi on Istrios village.... Hope all gone well at next week and solve Internet problem...

Holidays are almost ending at my 2nd QTH and my activity on HF bands is daily 1-3 hours.
Over 1300 QSO so far...

During holidays at my 2nd QTH lot of Qso are made in all HF spectrum mostly on CW but also on RTTY and PSK31 and few on SSB....
Over 1.000 so far.... And 1 week left..
