ISS Primary School Contact from Dodecanese

14 December an ISS contact with Primary School of Zipari Kos, Zipari, Greece
The
amateur radio ground station for this contact is on the island of Kos
in the Dodecanese in Greece. Amateur radio operators using call sign SV5BYR, will operate the ground station to establish and maintain the ISS connection.
This
is a direct contact via Amateur Radio allowing students to ask their
questions of Astronaut Andreas Mogensen, amateur radio call sign KG5GCZ.

The
Primary School of Zipari is located on the island of Kos in the
Dodecanese in Greece. The Island of Kos, with a population of 35,000, is
in the southern part of the country. The school serves 400 students
aged 6-12 and 45 teachers, and participates in innovative programs such
as European Erasmus+ programs and often takes part in Pan-Hellenic
competitions.
This
year an Astronomy School Club was formed to prepare students for this
ARISS contact. Other student activities include participation in the ESA
Moon camp challenge (2nd and 6th grade students), robot building, how
to track the ISS, and amateur radio communication (including morse
code).
The downlink frequency for this contact is 145.800 MHz FM and may be heard south europe.
